COVID-19 Vaccination in Singapore
Updated: Jul 6
Recently, COVID-19 Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine has been rolling out to frontline workers, healthcare, senior citizens and key section workers such as aviation, construction and hotel industry.
Our reader is working in Singapore Changi Airport and share his experience with us on how he received his first dose of COVID-19 Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.
Firstly, you need to book a slot to get your vaccination and the slot is from 830am – 430pm. Once you booked the slot, you will receive an SMS confirmation from the Ministry of Health (MOH).
The vaccination centre is at Terminal 4, Arrival Hall of Singapore Changi Airport. My slot is at 4.30 pm but I arrived early and you can see many people were queueing to register. The queue is very systematically where everyone practice 1m safe distancing. They will issue a booklet about the information of the COVID-19, Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine and what are the possible common side effects you might get in 4 languages – English, Malay, Chinese and Tamil.
Next, my the counter staff will ask for your NRIC for registration and asked a few questions such as in the past few days, do you get other vaccination or do you have any allergies etc. If you have such medical conditions, they will call for a doctor and the doctor will recommend whether you should take the vaccine or not. This vaccination centre is set up by Raffles Medical Group.
Once you have done the registration, they will issue you a slip to keep and immediately, they will arrange the 2nd dose appointment with you which is 21 days later. After that, procced to waiting area to standby and wait for your turn to inject. There are a few inject room where the doctor will inject the vaccine for you.
As you can see, I just sitting outside the vaccination station and waiting for the doctor to call you to go in. The doctor is very professional and will ask whether you are left or right-handed. In less than 2 mins, I have done my COVID-19 Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine and just vaccinated. It is painless and the needle is super thin. I don’t feel pain at all.
Finally, I proceed to another waiting area to rest for 30 mins to observe if I have any side effects or not. After 30 mins, I proceed to another counter and they will issue a vaccination card to you to prove that you are vaccinated and they will once again to remind you to come for 2nd dose COVID-19 Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine vaccination.
Overall, the whole process is pretty fast, organise and systematic. From queuing to register, waiting to inject and another 30 mins waiting time to observe. The whole process took me 2 hours due to the long queue. In short, I don’t feel any side effects from the COVID-19 Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine and glad that I have received the 1st dose of COVID-19 Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.
When the COVID-19 Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is available to you, will you take the vaccine? It is recommended to take the vaccine to protect your loved ones from getting COVID-19.
